Compound branching or delayed branching logic

Compound logic can be used to set up logic based on answers to multiple questions as well as system variables. Compound logic is also used for delayed branching where you can apply logic based on answers to a question or multiple questions which were answered earlier in the survey.

Q1: How often do you visit our restaurant?
Q2: Which city do you live in?
 
Compound  branching logic should be applied on question Q2 based on the options selected in Q1 and Q2.
 
Q3: To be answered only by respondents who are first time visitors and live in Seattle.
Q4: To be answered only by respondents who are first time visitors and live in New York.
Q5: To be answered only by respondents who visit often and live in Seattle.
Q6 To be answered only by respondents who visit often and live in New York.
 
Q7: General question to be answered by everybody
        

Before adding any logic, you should set up the entire survey with all of the questions. This will make it easier to check that the logic is correct when testing the survey.

• Go to: Login » Surveys (click on a survey) » Edit
• Select the question you wish to apply logic and click on Logic.

• Select the Compound Branching option.

• Start creating a criteria by adding a name.
• Now set up condition checks for the criteria.
• Select the question, select the comparison operator, and select the answer option.
• You can add another condition by clicking on the plus icon.
• Once you have added all conditions, select the branching destination for If criteria is met, jump to.
• You can create additional criteria by repeating the above steps.

• You have to select a question where the default logic should point. So when no criteria are matched, the selected question will be the destination for the logic.

• Click on Save Logic.
